Universal Quantum is proud to support the launch of the first undergraduate **Quantum Systems Engineering** degree, announced by the Colorado School of Mines. This pioneering programme marks an important step in building the talent pipeline required as quantum technologies move from research into large-scale, real-world deployment.

The new Bachelor of Science degree is designed to train engineers with the systems-level skills needed to design, integrate, operate and scale quantum technologies. By combining physics, engineering, computer science and practical systems thinking, the programme directly addresses a growing skills gap across the quantum industry.

As a supporter of the degree, Universal Quantum welcomes the programme’s focus on applied engineering and real-world problem solving. Building utility-scale quantum computers requires more than theoretical expertise. It demands engineers who understand how complex systems come together, from hardware and control to infrastructure and operations.

“Developing a skilled quantum workforce is one of the most important challenges facing the industry,” said **James Oury, VP of Impact at Universal Quantum**. “This programme represents a meaningful step towards equipping the next generation of engineers with the practical, systems-level capabilities needed to deliver scalable quantum technologies.”

The programme is set to enrol its first students in 2026 and includes strong links to industry through hands-on projects and capstone work. These elements will give students early exposure to the realities of building and operating quantum systems at scale.

Universal Quantum continues to support initiatives that strengthen the global quantum ecosystem, recognising that long-term progress depends on sustained investment not only in technology, but also in people and skills.

**About Universal Quantum**

Solve scale. Change world.

Quantum computers have the potential to overcome some of humanity’s greatest challenges. To realise this potential, we need to build machines that scale. This is what we do at Universal Quantum.

We are a team of passionate engineers, scientists and operational staff driven by a shared mission to build the technology that will transform our world.

We are building utility scale quantum computers based on a robust, modular and practical blueprint, in partnership with leading organisations and investors across the field.
