Universal Quantum is pleased to announce that it has joined the **Danish Quantum Community (DQC)**, strengthening its engagement with Denmark’s growing quantum ecosystem across research, industry and public institutions.

Universal Quantum is a UK-based company developing scalable quantum computers using trapped-ion technology. Its approach is built around a modular architecture that integrates multiple quantum processing units, each equipped with high-quality trapped-ion qubits, with a clear pathway to scaling systems to millions of qubits.

Universal Quantum focuses on building quantum systems designed for real-world deployment. In 2022, the company secured a €67 million contract from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) to deliver fully scalable trapped-ion quantum computers. The programme includes the development of a single-chip quantum computer and an initial multi-chip system of up to 100 qubits, with the long-term objective of scaling to much larger systems.

Universal Quantum leverages established manufacturing technologies to build the core components of its quantum computers, enabling integration with existing computing infrastructure. The company develops the full quantum computing stack and works closely with partners across government, industry, and academia to advance error-corrected quantum computing and to explore high-impact, real-world applications.

On joining the Danish Quantum Community, **Luc Gérardin, Global Head of Business Development at Universal Quantum**, said:

> “We are delighted to join the Danish Quantum Community and to engage more closely with Denmark’s vibrant quantum ecosystem. Collaboration across research, industry, and public institutions is essential to turning scalable quantum computing into a practical reality. We look forward to contributing our experience in building utility-scale quantum systems and exploring opportunities where quantum technology can deliver real-world impact.”

Universal Quantum looks forward to a close and productive collaboration with the Danish Quantum Community as part of its broader European engagement.

**About Universal Quantum**

Solve scale. Change world.

Quantum computers have the potential to overcome some of humanity’s greatest challenges. To realise this potential, we need to build machines that scale. This is what we do at Universal Quantum.

We are a team of passionate engineers, scientists and operational staff driven by a shared mission to build the technology that will transform our world.

We are building utility scale quantum computers based on a robust, modular and practical blueprint, in partnership with leading organisations and investors across the field.
