Universal Quantum has been selected to join Tech Nation’s Future Fifty 2026 cohort, the UK’s flagship programme supporting high growth scaleups.
The programme includes companies shaping the next phase of UK technology across sectors including AI, healthtech, aerospace and climatetech. The 2026 cohort collectively represents over £1.3 billion in funding raised, more than 2,900 employees and a strong international footprint, with 96% of companies expanding globally.
Future Fifty has supported a significant proportion of the UK’s most successful technology companies, with nearly a third of the country’s unicorns among its alumni, including Revolut, Wise, Monzo, Darktrace, Deliveroo, Skyscanner, Wayve and Zoopla.
The cohort was formally announced at an event hosted by the Chancellor, Rt Hon Rachel Reeves, at 11 Downing Street.
Sebastian Weidt, CEO at Universal Quantum, said:
“We are pleased to join this year’s Future Fifty cohort alongside a strong group of UK companies. It reflects the level of work being done across the ecosystem, particularly by teams focused on building for long term impact.”
Universal Quantum is building scalable quantum computing infrastructure. Its approach is centred on engineering systems that can be manufactured, integrated and expanded in a structured way.
At the core of this architecture is the iQPU, designed as a reproducible unit of quantum compute, and UQConnect, which enables those units to be combined into larger systems. Together, they form the foundation for scalable quantum computing.
The company’s systems are already in deployment with DLR, the German Aerospace Center, and Universal Quantum is working with the Open Quantum Institute on applications including research in women’s health.
The Future Fifty programme is supported by a network of partners including HSBC Innovation Banking, Emerald Technology, EY, Harmonic Finance and Capsule, providing companies with access to expertise, peer networks and support as they scale internationally.
The 2026 Future Fifty cohort includes:
AIApply, Amber Therapeutics, Ankar, Ascendx, Automata, Ben, CuspAI, Dwelly, Evaro, FIDO Tech, Fleek, Fuse Energy, Fyxer, Laka, Numan, Omnea, OpenRent, PQShield, Red Sift, Salience Labs, Summize, TransFICC, Universal Quantum, Yoto, and 9fin.
